Whoever said punk is dead was seriously mistaken. How do we know? We've got the proof. Introducing, NEVERISE! This new and upcoming band is the perfect mix of ambient, punk and rock.
The band was formed organically, with all members being friends prior to making the decision (Mikey and Rich are brothers!). We particularly like this aspect as together they feel totally natural. Perfect for giving their music a much more relatable, freely creative tone. We know we're fed up of getting forced friendships and fake happiness shoved down out throat from record producers. So instead, we can thank the Derby music scene for bringing these talented individuals together.
Jess, Mikey, Rich, Nick and Dan make up the awesome five-some that is Neverise. Their main influences are very varied but do include Neck Deep, Pvris, The Early November and artists like LANY to inspire more chilled out vibes. Their whole band emulates talent, creativity, risk taking and hard work. It's clear from the get-go that they're extremely passionate about music and are dedicated to their craft. That's why we were dying to talk to them.
L: Neverise is a rather unusual name, what was the inspiration behind it?
N: In all honestly... I think this came from a very hungover chat between a couple of the guys involving the thought of Never being able to get out of bed (Never ‘ Rise ‘ from ‘ the ‘ bed)...
L: A song of yours we particularly love has got to be Painted Gold. What is the meaning behind it?
N: This song describes the destructive relationship of a couple, but where, in this alternative universe, the break-up takes a dramatic and much more intense full stop.
L: What sets YOU aside from other bands?
N: We like to mash up different styles and textures in songs - from melancholy clean passages to balls out punk with breakdowns.
L: If you could collar with anyone dead or alive, who would you pick?
N: Would love to work with John Feldmann (Goldfinger front man and producer extraordinaire). He's produced some brilliant albums! Our favourite production is on The Used album, Lies For the Liars.
L: Do you own any vinyl, if so, do you remember what the first LP you bought was?
N: Nick has a varied collection of Vinyl. From 80s hair metal (Van Halen, Whitesnake). However, the first one he bought was Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits.
L: Did you set any resolutions for 2017?
N: Our main resolution was to get our music to more ears and get on the road more (More gigs!). So far this year, we have played shows including the O2 Academy and a headline show at the Venue in Derby and we are planning a bunch more shows for the summer.

It was a real pleasure to get the chance to talk to Neverise. We, without a shadow of doubt, know that they're going to continue taking this year by storm. They're the type of band that is totally chilled out in real life and could get along with anyone - as we've seen by their politeness, understanding and general demeanour. And we believe this is partly down to their amazing support. Whilst their family and friends have always had their backs and are massively supporting to any and all releases they have (we don't just mean their mum's stood there on the sides clapping, we mean they actually live the music!); today they wanted to leave a special message for their fans:
'Please continue to be as awesome as you have been!! We love you guys so much and can’t wait to see what 2017 brings for us all!!' - Neverise
